March madness is
behind us and that means that the membership renewals time is also behind us. Our very
efficient secretary, BB, has spent a lot of time updating and printing the roster that you’ll receive. Upon receipt,
please check the list for accuracy and if there is anything that needs correcting, please
email us. You will note that the numbers are slightly lower than expected. Several of our members died this past year, several
moved away and several just felt that Prime Timers was not right for them. As we’ve stated from the start, Prime Timers
is not right for everyone. Our target members are those guys that want to increase their social circle, get out of the house
and have someplace to go and something to look forward to. It is our opinion that we fill this need and for those who did
renew, we look forward to another fabulous year of exciting events.
We’ve accomplished
a lot during the past couple of years and our second anniversary party reflected our achievement and diversity. What a grand
celebration it was! Boston and Rhode Island’s Chapters had representation; Metroline’s Tony Schillaci and Don Church wrote a wonderful article with
photos in the latest issue. If you haven’t seen it, pick one up at one of the many drop-off spots. Some of our members
took the time to write letters about the. Thank you guys for taking the time to write.
Several members
suggested that we hold our meetings in other locations from time to time to make it more convenient for those who commute
rather long distances. No suggestion is dismissed without exploration and so your board is checking out Fitzgerald’s
Palace Supper Club in Waterbury as a possibility for our bi-monthly Wednesday dinner meetings, or a cocktail hour soiree with
finger food. You’ll be receiving a poll asking for your opinion. “If we had a Wednesday meeting in Waterbury,
would you attend?” We have made no commitments and your response will not commit us to anything. We’re simply
looking to see about how you feel about this. So we’re asking that each member complete the poll when you receive it.
We’ll let you know the results. Your board is trying to make our meetings more accessible so that all members may participate.
If you have a location that you feel might be appropriate, tell us about it. We’ll gladly explore other venues.
